The Lazy Bachelor ~ Story: Mr. Peregrine Tyndall visits the country seat of his best friend and cousin, the earl of Shipton, to join an odd houseparty. Known as the laziest man in London, he suddenly must bestir himself in the unlikely realm of matchmaking. But his efforts are complicated by the startling arrival of his long-neglected wards. Status: Completed. At Writers Exchange, waiting for the editor. Why I enjoyed writing this one: Getting poor, lazy Perry tangled up with matchmaking, a termagent of a ward, a child, and falling in love himself was great fun for me to write. Also, I revisit some of the characters from Mr. Harding Proposes, including the truly sweet Lord Shipton, and I introduce a gentleman who was meant to be a minor character but who so proved himself that he's one of the heroes of the next book! |

Cecilia and the Rake ~ Story: Cecilia Rowland despises rakes, but even so, she finds herself attracted to the sardonic and apparently cold-hearted Lord Ravenshill. Meanwhile, her new friend Kitty is fascinated by Ravenshill's guest, who is a kind of horse-whisperer. When the two girls go to London, they find that love can be dangerous as well as thrilling. Status: Completed. At Writers Exchange, waiting for the editor. Why I enjoyed writing this one: I enjoyed working again with Ravenshill - I seem to love torturing my heroes, and he struggles to hard not to love Cecilia. Cecilia unfolded before me as I wrote, becoming a much better character than I thought she could be. And as a horse owner and lover, I really liked spending a little time writing about these wonderful animals. |

Untitled (Harriet Wynter's story) ~ Story: Harriet Wynter is poised to make her debut into the ton. But when she fears that her beloved brother is in trouble, she impulsively dresses as a boy to go find him. She had an adventurous childhood and isn't (much) afraid, but she is forced to accept the help of the amiable Lord Ashurst, who is smarter than he looks. Status: In progress. Approx. 32,000 words so far. Why I enjoyed writing this one: Harry and her brother Sebastian are characters who presented themselves to me and insisted that I write about them. This is a much more intricately plotted book than I normally do, so I'm not sure that I am enjoying it! No, I am. I love the characters. |

Untitled (Sebastian Wynter's story) ~ Story: Back from being wounded at Waterloo, Sebastian is feeling depressed and directionless. He goes to his uncle in Kent for a short visit, and there he runs into an old friend (and ex-kidnapper) and gets all the adventure that even his nature can want. In addition, he meets the Cinderella-like Eugenia, who - although she is tongue-tied and klutzy around him - turns out to be just the woman he wants. Status: In progress. Approx. 16,000 words so far. Why I enjoyed writing this one: Sebastian fascinates me for some reason, and poor Eugenia is a delight to me. I also enjoyed bringing back Payne, the ex-kidnapper from Harry's story. This is a more linear story, but although I'm enjoying writing about Sebastian's big adventure, I have to admit that my favorite moments are with Eugenia and her massive crush on him. |
